11 Things We Learned From Nicki Minaj's #CRWN Interview
Last night Nicki Minaj sat down with Elliott Wilson of RapRadar.com for her #CRWN interview, an in-depth monthly series with hip hop's greatest. Queen Barbz dropped her long awaited third album, The Pinkprint, this week and became the first female artist to grace the #CRWN stage. The crowd went insane as Ms. Minaj stepped out, rapping her lyrics and turning the room into a mini concert. After the lively beginning, the interview was among her most personal yet—and here's what we learned.
On making The Pinkprint and Wayne:
-The Pinkprint took Nicki about a year to create. In contrast, her other albums took about 3-6 months.
-The song "Anaconda" wasn't planned. She thought the track was going to be more urban but it came out pop.
-The Pinkprint is about showing people what's important,"It should be about skill."
-The most personal track on the album is "All Things Go". She loves the song but hates it because it forces her to relive her cousin's death.
-The first line of "Only"—"I never f*ked Wayne, I never f*ked Drake"— came from her not knowing what to say on the track.
-She was in shock about Wayne publicly airing out his differences with Cash Money. She believes Baby and Wayne will work it out.

On her family:
-She has a tight relationship with her mother and she strongly believes in prayer. She doesn't care about fame, only about inspiring her fans.
-What her mom thinks of "Bed of Lies": "It must be very hard for a certain person to hear." -She cried for weeks because she couldn't make it to her brother's graduation.

On her relationship and motherhood:
-Nicki confirmed her recent breakup with Safaree. "I was so madly in love with Safaree." She was heartbroken because she lost her best friend.
-She's a workaholic and wonders when she'll be a mommy. At her age and where she's at career wise, it's something that she thinks about it and wants.
