Where To Catch Your Favorite 'Skins' Cast Members on Film and TV this Fall
Fans of the British teen drama, Skins, were definitely saddened when the show went off the air last summer. Over the course of seven series, audiences were introduced to a number of fine actors, such as Nicholas Hoult, who later went on to even bigger stardom. Thankfully, over the past year, cast members from all three generations have started to pop up in new films and TV shows. Those not quite ready to let go of Cassie (Hannah Murray), Cook (Jack O’Connell), or Emily (Kathryn Prescott) can find solace in seeing the actors who portrayed them back in the limelight this fall.
Nicholas Hoult (Tony, First Generation)
Undoubtedly the biggest star to come out of the series, Hoult has crossed over to the big screen with roles in the X-Men franchise and Warm Bodies. He can next been seen in Dark Places (Nov. 2014) and Mad Max: Fury Road (May 2015), both co-starring Charlize Theron.
Joe Dempsie (Chris, First Generation)
After his turn as the happy-go-unlucky Chris, Dempsie appeared on a number of shows, such as Doctor Who and Merlin, before landing a recurring role as Gendry on Game of Thrones. While he was gone during season four of GoT, it’s likely he’ll be back in season five. Dempsie also stars in Monsters: Dark Continent, the sequel to the indie sci-fi monster flick that was a hit in 2010. The film hits theaters on Sept. 26.
Hannah Murray (Cassie, First Generation)
When Skins first premiered, Murray quickly became a fan favorite thanks to Cassie’s hypnotizing, yet troubled character. After winning a BAFTA for her role, Murray moved on from the series. She most recently joined Game of Thrones as Gilly and was bumped up to series regular in season four. Murray’s also back on the big screen with the British musical drama, God Help the Girl, which hit theaters in September.
Murray and her co-stars even stopped by VH1 to hang out with Jarvis in the elevator.

Up Next: More cast members from the First Generation plus a new MTV star
Mitch Hewer (Maxxie, First Generation)
As Maxxie, Hewer got to show off his talents as a dancer and performer. While he hasn’t done too much since the show, he did co-star in the Selena Gomez film, Behaving Badly, which was quietly released on video-on-demand this summer.
Dev Patel (Anwar, First Generation)
Immediately following Skins, Patel landed the lead role in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning drama, Slumdog Millionaire. In the years since, Patel has starred in The Last Airbender and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel — he’ll appear in the sequel when it hits theaters next year. Recently, he returned to TV with a role in HBO’s The Newsroom. The show’s final season premieres on Nov. 9.
Kaya Scodelario (Effy, First and Second Generations)
As Effy, Scodelario was one of two characters — the other being Pandora (Lisa Blackwell) — to appear in two generations of Skins. Following the series, Scodelario built up her acting cred with a number of indie films. Now she’s the lone female star in the latest YA adaptation, The Maze Runner, which hits theaters on Sept. 19. The sequel is slated to arrive sometime in 2015.
Daniel Kaluuya (Posh, First Generation)
In the years since appearing on Skins, Kaluuya has been all over British TV with roles in Doctor Who and Psychoville. Following a small role in Kick-Ass 2, Kaluuya is back on TV with the British police dramedy, Babylon, which will likely make its way over to the U.S. in the coming year.
Up Next: Cast members from the Second Generation, including a new MTV star and potential Oscar nominee
Jack O’Connell (Cook, Second Generation)
A fan favorite of the second generation, O’Connell created a lot of buzz as Cook on the teen drama. Now the actor is making a go at the big screen with several high-profile films. Earlier this year he appeared in 300: Rise of an Empire. He closed out the summer with the indie hit, Starred Up, about criminals locked up at HM Prison Wandsworth. He’ll next be seen in Unbroken, the true story about a former Olympic athlete and World War II hero who survives two years in a Japanese prison camp. The film, directed by Angelina Jolie, is sure to get plenty of Oscar buzz this season.
Luke Pasqualino (Freddie, Second Generation)
As Freddie, Pasqualino was part of the second generation’s leading trio with Cook and Effy. Now the actor is part of a new (err older) trio, The Musketeers, which has been adapted for a new BBC historical drama.
Kathryn Prescott (Emily, Second Generation)
As one-half of identical twins, Prescott had to battle for attention and her own identity as Emily. While she no longer shares the screen with her twin sister, Prescott is still searching for her identity in her new role as Carter Stevens on MTV’s summer hit, Finding Carter. The finale aired on Sept. 16 but the show has already been green-lit for a second season.
Up Next: Two stand outs from the Third Generation
Sean Teale (Nick, Third Generation)
Of the third generation, Teale is one of two actors that broke out of the series. He recently joined the second season of Reign as Conde, Prince of the Blood. The show returns to The CW on Oct. 2.
Sebastian de Souza (Matty, Third Generation)
de Souza can still be found on both the big and small screens. This year, he starred in two British films, Plastic and Kids in Love. He’s currently filming a new pilot for ABC Family, Recovery Road, which if picked up, will air in 2015.
