Blake Lively's Positive Comments About Woody Allen Are Pissing Everyone Off
Oh, Blake Lively. You did it again.
First, you marry Ryan Reynolds on a plantation. Then, you dedicate a fashion spread on your now-defunct website to the "Antebellum." And now, you're defending a man who allegedly sexually abused his daughter.
And you're not just defending him. Nope. You're saying he is--wait for it--good for feminism. Yes, folks, you're reading this all correctly. Lively thinks Allen--whose son Ronan Farrow just published a Hollywood Reporter essay about said abuse allegations--is a hero for ladies everywhere.
“It's amazing what Woody has written for women,” Lively said, according to the Los Angeles Times. Strike one.
Strike two: On Allen's sexual abuse accusations, Lively stayed firmly on the defense. “It's very dangerous to factor in things you don't know anything about. I could [only] know my experience. And my experience with Woody is he's empowering to women."
Yeah, because when we think "empowering to women," we think of a man who had an affair with and married his adopted stepdaughter. Regardless of whether the abuse allegations are true, Lively's quote is more of a stretch than Dan Humphrey being Gossip Girl. (Sorry for the spoiler, Upper East Siders.)
Naturally, people on Twitter gave Blake the business for her comments.
SMH, Serena.
