As Jay Z has taught us, BK is from Texas. While Hov has basically become an unofficial ambassador for the Empire State thanks to a certain uber catchy cut off his 2009 album, The Blueprint 3, Beyoncé has made a point to show much love to her hometown of Houston over the last year.

Beyoncé, the 14-track, 17-video visual album, dropped less than three weeks ago, yet we already know where the sweetest part of the lollipop is and exactly what is considered flawless: diamonds, rocks, and women in general. Between promoting her latest brand of feminism and including friends and family members wherever possible (hi, Blue!) Beyoncé still found time to represent H-Town harder than ever before. Sure, 2011's 4 featured memorable brags about her birthplace and Yao Ming's former team, but between lyrical shout-outs and mysterious hand signals news outlets will undoubtedly link to the Illuminati, King B reestablished her place at the top of Houston's heap of native sons. Or should we call you "Third Ward Trill"? (That is what you're going by in the Magna Carta... Holy Grail liner notes, right?)

The sudden outpouring of hometown love and Instgram captions that borrow from popular street slang could be considered another strategic tactic by the Carter-Knowles camp to make Yonce look approachable and down-home after more than a year of strangers questioning her authenticity. Or maybe, after seeing how well New York has treated Hov since the release of "Empire State of Mind," Beyoncé wants her own shot at minority ownership of a Houston sports team? Either way, her feelings toward the city that made her are no surprise. As "Beyoncé Knowles, female pop vocalist," an award-winning, adorable child once said, "I love you, Houston." And who can argue with that face?

"Pretty Hurts"

Repping her Houston neighborhood across her chest in a sea of beautiful pageant girls who are also proud of where they came from. Miss Third Ward just wants to be happy in a world where the practice of vomiting those extra pounds away is ignored and vapid self-absorption encouraged.

The official video for this sassy-yet-sweet disco throwback could only be a location with the propensity for kitsch and sex appeal. Rather than create her own amBEYance (you're welcome), Bey, sister Solange and friends went down to Roller City USA in Houston's Funplex for the real thing.

Between repurposing the words of Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and allowing us to see her execute some spastic dance moves, Yonce stays "H-Town vicious" in her ode to female empowerment.

On "Bow Down/I Been On," the chopped and screwed Beyoncé track that divided much of the same audience that had been waiting patiently for something new from their queen, Bey goes even further by name-checking one of the city's most famous eateries: "Frenchy's, Boudin in the parking lot/Hold up, Texas trill/H-town going down, man."

Beyoncé and her hip-hop, rapping colleagues of Girls' Time Destiny's Child were not the first notably music acts to come from the Bayou City. Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Bun B and Slim Thug all call Hustletown home, and ZZ Top first got its start in the Texan city.

For Beyoncé, Yonce headed home and recruited Wall, Bun B, Slim Thug, Chad Jr, Lil Keke, Kirko Bangz, Scarface, Willie D, Trae Tha Truth and Z-Ro for the "No Angel" video. "She wanted a real tribute to Houston, and my thing is really immersing myself in a location, opening my eyes to the more subtle beauty that exists in a place," director @LILINTERNET told Noisey. "Accidental, innate, environmental beauty."

As for the wardrobe, who doesn't love James Harden? You know the drill by now: London speed it up, Houston rock it.
