Conservative Celebs: Stars You Didn't Realize Had Republican Leanings

If you've turned on your TV in the last few years, you've probably heard Republicans refer to those employed by the movie industry as "liberal Hollywood elites." Though that moniker may be an exaggeration, it's true: Hollywood is a liberal bastion. But many celebs don't fit the mold and self-identify as card-carrying members of the GOP. Whether they embrace religious values, donate big bucks to conservative candidates, or actually stumped for Donald Trump, these stars aren't afraid to publicize their political beliefs.

Kanye West

Though Yeezy has said he's running for President in 2024, Ye also announced his political leanings to concertgoers in California in November 2016. He told his San Jose audience, "I told y’all I didn’t vote, right? But if I would’ve voted, I would’ve voted for Trump.” Reiterating his message to Pablo fans, West doubled down: "I actually think that his approach was absolutely genius, because it f---ing worked." Yeeze met with the newly-elected President at Trump Tower in December 2016.

Kirstie Alley

During the Obama administration, the Cheers star criticized Barry for playing golf during the Louisiana floods. To her credit, Alley expressed disappointment at George Bush for his response to Hurricane Katrina. Alley was also an early celebrity to endorse Donald Trump on Twitter, but retracted her endorsement after the famous Access Hollywood tape surfaced. None of this mattered on election day: Kirstie tweeted her delight at Trump’s win on November 9, 2016 writing, "CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT TRUMP!Against all odds ..against the establishment and even against most from the GOP..U did it!"

Azealia Banks

Before she blasted Obama regarding his comments on Baton Rouge, Banks was a proud Trump supporter and then abandoner before the election. But on November 9, 2016, Azealia took to Instagram to share her excitement for the Trump administration. In a now-deleted post, Banks wrote, "I’m f*cking proud as F*CK of you. I must say that I am TRULY inspired by this and feel deep amounts of vindication. Thanks for letting me know that I’m not crazy (even though I fronted a few times) liberals run Hollywood and it’s been a COLD WORLD OUT HERE FOR ME AS A TRUMP SUPPORTER.”

Mike Tyson

The former heavyweight champion was a vocal opponent of Obamacare and President Obama, even appearing on Piers Morgan in 2013 to publicly express his disappointment in the 44th President. In October 2015, Tyson announced his support of then-candidate Trump on HuffPost Live, declaring "He should be president of the United States. Let's try something new. Let's run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job." In April 2017, Tyson reportedly asked New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie to ask Donald Trump to pardon him for his 1992 rape conviction.

Pat Sajak

The Wheel of Fortune host seems to be skeptical when it comes to President Donald Trump's views, but that hasn't stopped him from tweeting his conservative beliefs. In 2014, he posted, "I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends." Those are some strong beliefs, Pat! Sajak has also donated to GOP candidates like Rudy Giuliani and John McCain in the past.

Melissa Joan Hart

Sabrina the Teenage Witch may have been an avid supporter of Mitt Romney in 2012, but she was a vocal advocate of Libertarian Gary Johnson for the 2016 election. Hart's choice in Johnson was largely lead by her conservative beliefs:"To me, true conservative ideals of just less government interference in our lives, he really stood for that,” Hart told TheBlaze in an interview.

Paris Hilton

Donald Trump made some eyebrow-raising comments about his longtime family friend, Paris back in 2003 to Howard Stern. It was that family friendship that Paris claimed in a November 2016 interview led her to cast her vote for him. “I’ve known him since I’m a little girl, so yes [I voted for Trump]," she said. But in April 2017, Hilton clarified, in a controversial interview with Marie Claire that she didn't vote at all but if she had, she'd have voted for President Trump.

Tom Brady

A frequent guest at Mar-a-Lago, the QB has been friends with President Trump since 2002. Brady apparently kept a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker during Trump's campaign, even though he would not publicly state who got his vote for the 2016 election. His wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen says she did not vote for 45.

Kirk Cameron

The former Growing Pains star has always been vocal about his Evangelical Christian activism. Before the 2016 election, Cameron reluctantly supported Trump, but when Trump won, shared his excitement on video posted to Facebook Live.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Speidi wasn't shy about their Republican leanings in 2008: "I'm voting for John McCain," Montag told Us Weekly "I'm a Republican and McCain has a lot of experience." In 2016, Spencer Pratt unleashed a Twitter rant that seemed to be mostly against Donald Trump, but in 2017, the pair gave an extensive interview with far-right conspiracy theorist, Alex Jones that revealed their belief in conspiracies like the "New World Order" and a distrust of the media.

Cindy Crawford

Though the supermodel supported Obama in 2008, donating the maximum amount ($4,600) to his campaign, Crawford became a Romney supporter for the 2012 election. Cindy was spotted with the Romney family and proudly appeared at a pro-Romney demonstration. No word on if she supported President Trump in 2016, although President Trump is a big fan of hers: Crawford was one of the ten women Trump listed as would-be partners in a 2000 interview with Howard Stern.

Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton has always been an outspoken conservative. Heaton is pro-life, a fan of Rush Limbaugh, and frequently updates her feed with Bible quotes. But, when Heaton was asked about her support for candidate Trump back in 2016, she tweeted, "If he's the nominee then it won't be my party."

Kelsey Grammer

In 2012, the Frasier star told Jay Leno that he felt that being a Republican cost him an Emmy nomination. I’m a declared out-of-the-closet Republican in Hollywood,” he told the host. "Do I believe it’s possible that some young person, young voting actor -- or even older voting member for the Emmys -- would sit there and go, 'Yeah, that’s a great performance, but ooh, I just hate everything he stands for?' That's impossible!" His sarcasm was thinly veiled. When asked about Trump in 2016, Grammer declared, "I'm a Trump guy!"

Chris Pratt

While it's unconfirmed whether or not Pratt voted for Donald Trump (he follows the Pres. on Instagram), the Guardians star has spoken out against elitism in Hollywood. In a 2017 interview with Men's Fitness Pratt said, "The voice of the average, blue-collar American isn’t necessarily represented in Hollywood. I don’t see personal stories that necessarily resonate with me, because they’re not my stories.” Despite being considered a "conservative celebrity" by many, Chris also said of his political leanings, "I don’t feel represented by either side."

Aaron Carter

Carter went back and forth in 2016, endorsing and then un-endorsing Trump on Twitter. But, in 2017, the former pop-star doubled down on his allegiance to 45, telling Own, "I know what I’m talking about. It’s the kids who are nineteen and twenty years old that read articles that are falsified, 75 percent of its majority, and you know, it’s just like, those are my views, they’re my own, but I’m not going to shut up, you know? I’m not going to shut up, and I’m going to be the way I want to be."
