Love & Hip Hop's Yandy Smith recently got "all up in the business" of the Best Man Holiday cast, as they gave updates about where the characters are picking up 15 years after the 1999 hit movie The Best Man left off. Who better to get everyone caught up on where Harper, Jordan, Lance, Julian, Robin, Mia, Candy and the rest of the gang are now, than someone just as used to on-screen drama?
If you don't have time to watch The Best Man eight times in row like I did this weekend (what else are you doing?) before Holiday hits theaters Friday, November 15, use our cheat sheet to get up to speed.
Harper Stewart
Where He Is Now: Taye Diggs says to expect realistic progression of his central character Harper. The formerly rising new writer with a hot (and controversial) new book is now an established author struggling with a sophomore slump. Looks like all of his lucky breaks from the first movie finally ran out. On the plus side, Harper put a ring on Robin sometime during the 15 years that followed, so at least he has her support.
Jordan Armstrong
Where She Is Now: Nia Long wasn't present during Yandy's talk with the rest of the gang but it looks like Jordan's production career has skyrocketed over 15 years. And her new beau Brian McDaniels, played by Eddie Cibrian, seems to be the "tall vanilla shake" to help Jordan with those raging hormones Harper left her with a decade before.
Lance Sullivan
Where He Is Now: No longer a new superstar of the NFL, Lance is the NFL superstar as a key Giants running back. Morris Chestnut wasn't with Yandy and the rest of the cast to confirm, but it looks like he may still be having trouble dealing with Mia's long-ago infidelity with Harper.
Julian Murch
Where He Is Now: Romantic Julian made Candy his wife, 'natch, but don't expect him to be pushed around like he was with his ex Shelby. "Julian is now much more of a man than he was before...because he's found his soulmate," Harold Perrineau said. Despite being a lot more sure of himself now, poor Murch still has insecurites about Candice's past as an exotic entertainer.
Quentin Spivey
Where He Is Now: Terrence Howard couldn't make the cast's chat with Yandy, but it looks like his character Quentin is still into getting busy on the regular in the sequel despite his now-businessman status. Wonder if his wedding rebound Shelby will be able to tame him when they get back together.
Robin
Where She Is Now: Robin finally found her calling as a comedian jewelry maker teacher executive chef, according to Sanaa Lathan. Most importantly, she's finally about to be a first-time mommy after some difficulty trying due to Harper's "low sperm count."
Shelby
Where She Is Now: Murch's bossy ex is now the bossy reality TV star of the Real Housewives variety. She's "bigger, better and badder" with enough bling and attitude to make a Love & Hip Hop star like Yandy proud according to actress Melissa De Sousa. In other words, looks like Shelby will still be bringing the theatrics to the sequel. Here's hoping no drinks or bottles are thrown.
Mia Morgan
Where She Is Now: Now Mrs. Sullivan, Mia shares a a beautiful home with her NFL star hubby Lance and several children. Are the kids are all hers with Lance? Maybe that telltale throat clearing and chuckle from Monica Calhoun and the rest of the cast conceals something not so happily ever after under the surface.
Candy
Where She Is Now: Candy the stripper is gone and in her place is Candice: teacher, wife and mother. Regina Hall says despite Candice's life turnaround she still has to contend with her pre-iPhone past coming back to haunt her in the age of YouTube and Twitter.
