MTV Star Clay Adler Dies at 27
Clay Adler, cast member from MTV's Laguna Beach spin off Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County has passed away from apparent suicide. He was 27 years old.
In late March, the reality TV star and a group of his friend had taken a trip to the desert where they were doing some practice shooting. In the middle of firing, sources say he turned the gun and shot himself in the head. Reportedly, Clay wasn't under the influence but does have a history of mental illness and depression.
“We are saddened by the news of Clay Adler’s passing,” MTV told The Huffington Post in a statement Tuesday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
Clay's former Newport Harbor cast mate Allie Stockton posted a tribute to Clay on her now private Instagram page. “At a loss for words and truly heartbroken. We love you so much Clay. I do hope you’re in this outfit when I see you again."
Adler’s closest friends and family members honored him with a gathering at the beach this past weekend. Everyone in attendance drifted out to sea on surfboards to honor Adler, who was an avid surfer.
Our condolences to his family and friends. RIP.
