Katy Perry & John Mayer Break Up Over St. Patrick's Day Weekend -- Just Like His Song?
It would appear that Katy Perry and John Mayer have called it quits. People reports that even though they just spent a romantic getaway in Montana earlier this month, the two are living separate lives. No one knows the direct cause of the split, but over St. Patrick's Day weekend, Perry took to twitter to air out her feelings via Daughter's song "Landslide"--which contains the lyrics "I want you so much, but I hate your guts I hate you." But given the timing of the break up, we'd like to offer that maybe John Mayer's own song, "St. Patrick's Day", is the couple's perfect break up tune.
In a weird "art meets life" twist, John Mayer's early b-side from Room For Squares, "St. Patrick's Day", contains the following lines:
"No way November will see our goodbye
When it comes to December it's obvious why
No one wants to be alone at Christmas time
And come January we're frozen inside
Making new resolutions a hundred times
February, won't you be my valentine?
And we'll both be safe 'til St. Patrrick's Day "
Mayer and Perry initially hooked up last summer in what seemed to be a post-divorce fling for Perry. The two ended their summer romance after two months, but then shortly got back together in the late summer. Things seemed to be going well throughout the fall and winter. They celebrated Christmas, New Year's Eve and even attended the Grammy Awards arm in arm last month. But things have seemingly fallen apart past St. Patrick's Day...
Here's hoping both Perry and Mayer bounce back soon with new tabloid loves and even newer break up tunes for us to listen to.
