10 Ridiculous Marriage Proposals That Only Celebrities Would Do
It's wedding season, and we're all feeling a little more romantic than usual right now. But before going into this, do yourself a favor and stay realistic. You probably shouldn't expect a celebrity-esque proposal from your S.O., and we're not sure you would even want one as outlandish as some of these. Celebs can get away with popping the question on random bodies of water and mountains, because what else are they going to spend their money on besides trying to outdo each other's proposal stories? Exactly.
Seal took Heidi Klum to an igloo.
Yes, you read that correctly. While vacationing in the Canadian Rockies, Seal surprised Heidi with a helicopter ride up a mountain, where he had an igloo built on top. It doesn't stop there. There was a bed, rose petals, champagne, candles, and food. Why wouldn't there be?
The time Kanye West rented out a stadium to propose to Kim.
Kanye was Kim's third go-around at marriage, so he had to go big to make it legit, right? He rented out AT&T Park in San Francisco and had "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEEE!!!" written on the giant screen. To top it off, an orchestra was there (to play his own song "Knock Me Down," obviously) to give Kim's eyes a break from her 15 carat diamond ring. When she said yes, fireworks went off and family and friends came out to surprise her.
Matthew McConaughey wrapped Camila Alves' engagement ring in not one, but eight boxes.
On Christmas (classic), Matthew made sure Camila was the last to go when the family was gathered, opening presents. She had to unwrap eight boxes to get to the ring, and he said, "The first words out of her mouth were not 'yes.'" We assume it was something along the lines of "WTF, though? Eight? Really?"
Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah Carey twice. Once with candy, another with a kidnapping.
The first time Nick popped the question to Mimi, he hid the 17-carat diamond inside a candy ring pop. She said the proposal caused many to call her Cinderella. The two go hand-in-hand, obviously. Then, a few days later, he "kidnapped" her and took her on a helicopter ride, where he proposed again. "When I was in an unhappy place in my life...I always wanted to be kidnapped," she said. You may not think kidnapping when you think fairytale proposal, but to each their own, right?
Snooki's short-lived flame proposed with this magazine cover.
Before Snooki got her GTL-filled happily ever after with Gionni, her boyfriend Jeff Miranda asked Snooks to marry him with this magazine cover. Did we mention they were "dating" for two weeks? You may not believe it, but she said no.
Deadmau5 took to Twitter to get ish done.
The DJ proposed to Kat Von D with a tweet that read: "will you marry me?" and a picture of the ring. Not the most creative, but also, only a celeb could get away with that crap. Kat responded on Twitter: "Please excuse me while I go squeeze the hell out of my fiancé!" Some new-age stuff right here.
When Christina Aguilera's former hubby Jordan Bratman gave Nicholas Sparks a run for his money.
While on vacation in California, Jordan showered their room with rose petals and boxes, each filled with a handwritten note to Christina, detailing all the things that he loved about her. In the last gift box was the ring.
The time Eric Winter made Roselyn Sanchez fear for her life.
Eric's midnight proposal in a kayak on a Puerto Rican bay would've been totally brilliant if he didn't scare the hell out of his girlfriend. Roselyn freaked out, thinking they were stranded once their tour guide, who was in a second kayak, sped away. Then she realized what was going on—oh, and that Eric designed the 4.3-carat ring—and it was all good. Until she freaked out about potentially dropping it in the water.
Liam McIntyre actually made Erin Hasan into a Disney princess (and we can't decide if it's cute or creepy).
While staying at Disney World, Liam had one of the Cinderella characters go to Erin's door, give her a makeover, and present her with a custom-made dress based on her favorite princesses. She was then led to a private dinner, where Liam showed up, dressed as a prince. He is an actor, so....
The time Brady Smith drew a whole damn book for Tiffani Thiessen.
Brady popped the question by giving Tiffani a book, which he'd illustrated by hand, detailing his favorite moments of their relationship. Love it, but like, who has time for that actually?
No worries, though. We're sure your proposal story is good, too.
