The ‘90s were the breakout decade for hip hop films. No longer were they relegated to stories centered around the four components of the culture — ‘80s flicks like Breakin’, Rappin, Wild Style or Crush Groove. Now a hip hop film constituted a movie starring superstar rappers or poignant urban dramas or hilarious and pointed comedies.
